Welcome to The d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards

d'Arcy Doyle Art AwardsEstablished in 2004 by Mudgeeraba identity Earle Hinschen, The d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards immediately proved itself as one of the top visual art awards, not only in Queensland but further afield.

Now 10 years on, ‘The Doyles’ as it is colloquially known has become an important Australian Art Festival for artists nationwide and art collectors. Over the years, winners have gone on to become professional artists and they still continue to enter their works in our exhibition.

The primary category is ‘Landscape’, as Doyle himself was a noted landscape artist, with other categories being ‘Still Life’ and ‘Portrait/Figures’.

The 1st Prize winner of the 2011 Landscape Award, Geoff Hale, said “over the past few years I have watched ‘The Doyles’ grow in size and reputation, and it has rapidly become an important cultural event for Mudgeeraba as well as
the emerging and professional artists nationwide who participate. The quality selection of artworks exhibited at this event each year is certainly a drawcard.”

Despite the wet night more than 300 people braved the weather to attend the opening of the 2013 d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards at the Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall. The event was opened by Gold Coast City Councillor Glenn Tozer. One of the judges, Lorraine Rogers, spoke of the exceptionally high standard of the 400 works on display while the Event Director, Earle Hinschen, sang the praises of the local Gold Coast artists competing against so many interstate and international artists.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the “d’Arcy Doyle Arts Festival” has been created, incorporating three venue of Art and Sculpture exhibitions. This exciting step will bring art lovers to the Southern Gold Coast during the month of June and July.

d’Arcy Doyle ‘Sports’ Art Award at Tallai Country Golf Club and Boomerang Farm Sculpture Award are NOW ON until Sunday 13 July.
