After 15 years as Event Director of the prestigious d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards, 81-year-old Mudgeeraba local, Earle Hinschen, approached Gillian Grove of Artable to take up the reins.
Gillian is well known in art circles as being an innovator for art experiences. Her company Artable has been serving the arts community for over 10 years.
Gillian says she is delighted with Earle’s offer and has stepped into the role in 2020, bringing with her a wealth of business experience and a passion for supporting the arts community. Combining her fresh new approach with Earle’s mentoring will ensure the event continues to grow as one of the nation’s richest and most popular events for creatives.
Gillian was born and bred on the Gold Coast, and her journey has led her to work with some of the best artists in the world delivering luxury art retreats and workshops both in Australia and overseas.
Artable’s success has been unrivalled in Australia and last year took out their third business award.
“For me, the Awards are a way to give back to the arts community that has given so much to me over the years.” Gillian says.
One of the most important aspects of ‘the Doyles’ is the local involvement.
“I’ve been blown away at the level of commitment from the entire community – from sponsors, to volunteers, to the artists themselves. This is truly an event by the people for the people – an iconic Gold Coast cultural event that I will be proud to nurture and preserve into the future.”
Gillian is a big advocate for the arts being accessible to all members of the community.
“I’m passionate about ensuring the arts thrive on the Gold Coast, that our amazing artists and beautiful region are promoted, that sponsors are valued for their support and that the community benefits from building on the success of the awards.”
Gillian, Earle and the new committee are encouraging artists to enter the 2020 prize and welcome new sponsors who may be keen to get involved.
